We all have our musical heroes: those artists whose work is game-changing, or even life-changing. On this episode of All Songs Considered, Bob Boilen speaks with his hero, Brian Eno.
Eno's career is too storied to summarize neatly. Since his glam-rock beginnings as a member of Roxy Music in the early '70s, Eno has helped pioneer ambient and experimental music; produced massive records by U2, Talking Heads and Coldplay; and designed the interactive music apps Bloom, Trope and Air, among many other distinctions. In advance of his new album Drums Between the Bells, Eno joins All Songs this week to spin some of the music he's most passionate about ? from the hallowed doo-wop records that caught his fancy as a child to newcomers such as Anna Calvi.
