(WEAU) -- The Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling says the average debt of problem gamblers who called its helpline skyrocketed by more than $100,000 this year.
The council says a major reason is because many gamblers are good at hiding their addictions and wait until they are deep in debt before they call for help.
On the flip side, the council says it answered more than 13,500 calls to its Problem Gambling Help Line.
That's six percent less than last year.
