There are loans available to assist you with paying for school but if you are lucky to get single parent scholarships you will not have to pay it back. This is why you should always do a bit of work to find all scholarships which you qualify for. Just like grants, scholarships do not have to be repaid, and you can apply for as many as you wish. There are limitations to financial aid grants. Pell Grants and SEOG both have a certain amount of money available to each student. The money is based on certain factors, which allows some students to receive more than others. SEOG is given on a first come first serve basis only. So, once these sources are depleted, you are basically left on your own to fund your education. This is what makes single parent scholarships so important.
Single Parent Scholarships Contractual Agreements
Most single parent scholarships are given with no contractual duties upon finishing college. However, there are some which will provide money for college, upon your signing a contract stating you will provide a particular service upon completion. For those who choose to pursue these scholarships, having to fulfill the agreement is merely a way of paying back the money which was given. Whichever way one looks at it, the contract must be fulfilled or the scholarship will need to be repaid. If you are facing financial problems, which are making your goals difficult to pursue, these scholarships may be for you. Just be sure before signing into any scholarship which requires a contract, to read the agreement thoroughly.
