Social network Facebook has revealed a new iOS native app which replaces the older versions and which has been rebuilt from the ground up and which it claims is faster, with a smoother story scrolling experience and instant photo uploads.
?Facebook 5.0 for iOS is twice as fast as the previous version when launching the app, scrolling through news feed and opening photos in feed,? Facebook manager Mick Johnson explained.
The new app, it is understood has been rebuilt using Objective C which makes it 2.5 times faster. The original iPad app was built in HTML5 and while great for working across platforms has led to criticism lately for being too slow.
There has also been a minor update to the Android app, which includes faster scrolling.
In addition Facebook has revealed new statistics about its app usage:
?????????543 million monthly active users used Facebook mobile products in June 2012
