LONDON -- U.K. shingles Leopard Films and Remedy Productions have teamed up with the aim of creating a new "superindie group" operating on both sides of the Atlantic. The wannabe is called Argonon Group and hopes to have annual revenue of ?100 million ($162 million) within five years, delivered by both organic and growth via acquisition in Blighty and elsewhere. Financial backing is being provided by private equity coin. Argonon will be led by Leopard topper James Burstall. Leopard's portfolio spans factual, factual entertainment, drama, comedy and children's, and it has a U.S. arm based in New York. Credits include "Missing," "An Englishman in New York" and "The Day the Immigrants Left." Remedy specializes in fare aimed at teen audiences, including music shows "Freshly Squeezed" and "Switch Live Awards." The two shingles are believed to have a joint revenue of ?17.5 million ($28.3 million) and employ 112 staff. The thinking is that Leopard and Remedy will operate as distinct and individual production entities under the umbrella of Argonon, emulating the way that the king of U.K. "superindies" All3Media functions. Burstall said: "Our ambition is to create a unique new center of excellence with quality content at its core. "There is a huge appetite in the market now for first-rate programming, content across all platforms, that challenges, questions and entertains in a surprising way. " Remedy has already bowed Remedy Canada, based in Vancouver, where it intends to tap into and develop relationships with local talent. Leopard International will rebrand as Argonon International, and will be responsible for all the entity's global distribution activities. Meanwhile, Leopard Films USA has bolstered its senior management team around prexy Nick Rigg, with Julian Locke upped to vice prexy of Leopard Films USA and Sara Banister joining as chief operating officer.
